The Quran Does Not Blame Eve Alone
This difference matters far beyond one ancient story. If the first woman becomes the explanation for female gullibility or guilt, later restrictions can appear natural. The Quran closes that door by narrating the event without naming her as the sole initiator and by directing explicit language of disobedience toward Adam as well.

Eve in Genesis and Later Christian Interpretation
Many contemporary Christians rightly object to using Eve as a weapon against women. They emphasize that Adam was present, that Romans 5 assigns representative responsibility to Adam, and that redemption in Christ restores dignity. A fair Muslim article should present that response. It can then ask why the Quran's account is clearer from the beginning, requiring no inherited guilt and no rehabilitation of woman from an ancestral blame.

Adam and His Wife Fall Together
In Quran 2:35-36, the command is given to both and Satan causes both to slip. In Quran 7, the tempter addresses both, and both speak the repentance prayer. In Quran 20, Adam is specifically said to have forgotten the covenant and disobeyed. Across the passages, responsibility is shared and sometimes Adam is foregrounded; Eve is never isolated as the deceiver of mankind.

سورة طه · الآية ١٢١
And Adam and his wife ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred.
Quran 20:121

وَقُلْنَا يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ ٱسْكُنْ أَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَكُلَا مِنْهَا رَغَدًا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ ٱلشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
سورة البقرة · الآية ٣٥
And We said, "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers."

No Inherited Sin
Fitrah does not mean every child will automatically remain righteous. It means human beings begin without inherited blame and with a God-given nature capable of recognizing truth. Environment, choices, and temptation shape what follows. Salvation in Islam therefore involves faith, repentance, mercy, and righteous action, not payment for an ancestor's guilt.

And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And if a heavily laden soul calls [another] to [carry some of] its load, nothing of it will be carried, even if he should be a close relative. You can only warn those who fear their Lord unseen and have established prayer. And whoever purifies himself only purifies himself for [the benefit of] his soul. And to Allah is the [final] destination.
Quran 35:18

وَوَصَّيْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ إِحْسَٰنًا ۖ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ كُرْهًۭا وَوَضَعَتْهُ كُرْهًۭا ۖ وَحَمْلُهُۥ وَفِصَٰلُهُۥ ثَلَٰثُونَ شَهْرًا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةًۭ قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِىٓ أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ ٱلَّتِىٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَىَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَىَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحًۭا تَرْضَىٰهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِى فِى ذُرِّيَّتِىٓ ۖ إِنِّى تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّى مِنَ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ
سورة الأحقاف · الآية ١٥
And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."

What About the Hadith on Eve?
Some tafsir works also transmit Israiliyyat—reports drawn from Jewish and Christian narrative traditions—in which Eve plays a larger tempting role. Muslim scholars have long distinguished such reports from Quran. They may be narrated when they neither contradict nor confirm revelation, but they cannot rewrite the Quran's structure or establish doctrine.

Personal Responsibility and Open Repentance
The narrative also shows the nearness of forgiveness. Adam and his wife do not need another person to carry their sin. They recognize wrong, call upon their Lord, and receive guidance. That pattern is central to Islamic Dawah: every woman and man can turn directly to Allah, and no inherited story makes anyone too stained to return.
