Common Ground: Shared Divine Perfections
This shared vocabulary matters, but each attribute must be understood carefully. Divine love need not mean that God becomes human. Divine nearness need not mean physical presence. Divine speech need not be a second divine person. Divine mercy need not require the punishment of an innocent substitute.
Islam reads the attributes according to God's incomparability: they are real and perfect, but unlike the limited qualities of created beings.
